: at the tender age of six, a young lad names Daniel James Goodwin felt his first shock of electricity, whilst he stuck his finger into a radio that he’d torn apart. it’s possible from that moment forward, his brain lead him down a road of ruin.......

.......goodwin began his musical education in the real world. never one for formal thought, he played endlessly with sound on sound dubbing in his early teens and found himself interning and cleaning studio toilets at fifteen. his early recordings as a legitimate engineer were experiments in live, two track recordings of avant jazz bands in the hudson valley of new york. the experience of placing microphones became invaluable as he found the way to his now diametrically opposed processes........

.........DjG received critical attention due to his work on Murder by Death’s sophomore effort, “Who Will Survive and What Will be Left of Them”. critics applauded the subtle creepiness of the lp, projecting goodwin’s work to the world at large. he went on to produce a single with Thursday for Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland soundtrack, stirring more buzz. as his reputation blossomed, santi gold (mastermind of santogold) brought him onboard to record and mix the sophomore effort of her former outfit, Stiffed.

his left field, yet lavish widescreen productions have led to even more critical attention, with a multitude of artists calling on his sensibilities-most recently with the Bravery, Norah Jones, Lapko, Camphor, Twin Thousands and The Silent League............

...............whilst establishing himself as a maverick in the studio world, DjG took it upon himself to answer his own need for catharsis..... he founded snowflake and longshoremen, both one man projects, completely undertaken in goodwin’s hand. he is currently working sporadically on the debut snowflake lp. he is also a fulltime member of camphor and occasional member of sol seppy and new london fire. In a parallel universe, DjG has also forged a comfortable niche in the scoring world, having scored mutiple productions for MTV, HBO, and others......

.......... in early 2008, DjG built the isokon, a customized technical facility, bridging the worlds of digital and analog.
goodwin’s toys, present as ever, are in full force at the isokon....bleeps, bloops, and blops galore from the windows and the floors. the isokon is now host to all of DjG’s mixing projects, as goodwin converts his mind from the world of the old, to the dawn of the new...........

.......... DjG has made generous advances in record making over the last 15 years. drawing on his deep rooted love of old Stax records, Muscle Shoals, and the avantgarde stylings of Talk Talk and Miles Davis, his protocol is now one of reckless abandon....... eschewing mainstream practices for those that reach for the extremities of sound. whether it means liberal use of manipulation, or a simple translation of a romantic moment,
his ability to seamlessly meld warped electronics with acoustic purity manages to keep
his productions inventive, adventurous, and elastic..........
